Welcome to El Tico HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, & Air Conditioning)!!!

Back in 2004 when I got introduced to the Air Conditioning Trade I had no idea what I was getting myself into, you can say that I was as green as one can be. As such I started cleaning the shop, cataloging parts on inventory, being a helping hand, delivery driver, sanitation specialist, and sometimes even a receptionist, so basically I was what anyone on the shop needed me to be at that particular time of the day.

After a while I was promoted to the Rank of "Filter Changer", of course that new responsibility came without delegating any of my other duties to someone else, but it didn't matter because for me it was a big deal since it meant that I could have the chance now to go out in the field and see the Journeymen and the other Service Technicians hard at work.  Learned a lot from those guys, and I'll be forever grateful!

Around 2006 (+-1 Year) I got Promoted to the Rank of "Service Helper", with Shop duties. This meant that I would get to have my own Company Vehicle so I could meet  the personnel out in the field and help them with compressor change outs, or any type of work in which an extra hand was required. First I had to stop by the shop in the morning, and perform some Shop Sanitation duties before heading out about my day.

As I progressed in knowledge and familiarity with the equipment and its functions, then more responsibilities were being delegated to me out in the field, and I found myself doing less of the Shop related duties. Eventually a new Shop Keeper was hired, and the chapter of my life when I was a Shop Boy was finally closed.

After 12 years on the field doing service / installs I don't say I know it all, that would be irresponsible at best, but I can say with certainty that I'm well rounded on a variety of aspects regarding mechanical refrigeration. This is only possible thanks to the wealth of information, and tips that were shared by co-workers, and to my continuous scholarship provided by the Union Local 342.

This website is a project of mine in which I want to provide as much of my knowledge for individuals, or fellow Service Technicians to benefit. In time I will be adding things like, links to manuals for particular HVAC Equipment I find on the field, a section where I become a Myth  Buster of HVAC concepts, and also a section with photos of odd things you find out there,  I'm sure there will be no shortage of oddities because there is always something weird happening in the field.

Thanks for reading this introductory page, I will be adding more content to it and also a section to leave your comments, suggestions, and why not, your critics!!!
